Another Saturday rolled by and expectations were high in the Broomhill camp, unfortunately by the time it hit 4 o`clock post merdiem, we were left scratching our heads and wondering how the points passed us by. I`ve a new reporter working for me today so i`ll hand you over to our stand in goalkeeper Stevie McKendry.
Thanks Se7en, todays match was at home to keady celtic, Blackie scored for us in the first half and keady scored twice in the 2nd. When we got back to the Normandy there was lots of food, there was chicken drumsticks, chips, sausage rolls, sandwiches, cocktail sausages and all types of burgers, you could have hamburgers, cheeseburgers, steakburgers, hawaiin burgers and chicken burgers. I helped myself to a bit of everything and even managed to chew off part of the table, after all the other greedy boys left i decided to order myself a mixed grill from the bar menu to keep myself ticking over until tea time, i couldn`t really enjoy the food because the staff kept throwing water over me and shouting `We need to get it back to the water or it`ll die`. On the way home i called into the chinese and ordered numbers 13 through to 74, twice! i knew this would keep the batteries going until breakfast. I had a great day out and love my new job, i hope to get out again soon.
Final score Broomhill 1 Keady Celtic 2

All caravan shows, tractor pulls and car boot sales were on hold in Loughgall as Broomhill were able to play their first `home` game since they beat Rectory Rangers on the opening day of the season. Under extremely blustery conditions the home side started brightly and wasn`t long before they got into their stride using every inch of the pitch (millimeter ya clown we went metric years ago!). Despite having countless chances (you know who you are) Broomhill were unable to find the back of the net, but it felt like only a matter of time before the deadlock would be broken and sure enough just after the restart Davy Simpson crossed for Stevie `The Monk` Hewitt to fire home, Jonny Forde added a second to take his season total to four (pretty impressive considering the boy is living on about two hours sleep a night). Stevie scored two more in quick succession to complete his hatrick before Gareth Wilson came off the bench to wrap up the points for Broomhill. I`ll have to say this is one of the best displays of football i`ve seen this seaon from Broomhill and showed good character after last weeks defeat, well done lads.
Final Score Broomhill 5 Aughnacloy 0

Broomhill made the short trip to Milford on Saturday to take on league leaders Ashley, i was unable to attend the match so everything from here on is pure speculation. Some fantastic finishing from a strong Ashley side saw the home team go four nil up and in a commanding position, but then the highly talented Paul Rodgers arrived late to the game in his private helicopter with that cheerleader from heroes hanging off his arm and proceeded to the pitch in his diamond studded football boots along the obligatory red carpet and set up two late goals before flying out to Africa to begin his missionary work.
Final Score Ashley 4 Broomhill 2

Broomhill football club made history on saturday when they progressed to the 3rd round of the junior cup, they took on Drumcashlone in Ardmore on a bright and mild October day. Andy McHugh didn`t even have the decency to wait until i got to the game by opening the scoring for the home side (i was told he chipped the keeper, i`m still waiting for this to be confirmed). Drumcashlone managed to equalise just before halftime after a comedy of misses from the away side. The second half started at a fast pace with both sides desperate to get the next goal, as my stomach started to rumble and i moved towards the chip van, Ryan Harper manged to grab himself an extra yard to curl in a cracking goal from the right hand corner of the penalty box. With Lee Winter rattling on in my ear in the queue for a burger we could just about make out Jonny Forde making it 3 for the hill. I want to congratulate the boys on a fantastic performance and here`s hoping for a tasty wee away draw. On a further note i want to thank the Drumcashlone lads for coming back to our bar in fancy dress, they`re a fine example of the spirit of the Junior Cup, all the best for the season lads.
Final Score Broomhill 3 Drumcashlone 1

This`ll be short and sweet, Broomhill took on Dollingstown Reserves at home in the Mid Ulster Shield on Saturday, it proved to be a bridge too far for the young side as they fell behind twice in a matter of minutes from two set pieces in the first half. Despite heaping intense pressure on the away sides defence and some heroic saves from the keeper, Broomhill were unable to convert their chances into goals. We wish Dollingstown all the best in the next round of the cup were they face an away tie against Mid Ulster Dision 1 side White City. Highlights of the day were `The Pallet of lies` and `Spider City`
Final Score Broomhill 0 Dollingstown Reserves 2

Broomhill were on the road again for the 5th consecutive week, saturday`s stop was in Moira to play last seasons 4th place finishers Glenavy. After last weeks success in the Junior Cup confidence was high throughout the team and the away side took the game to Glenavy from the off, but a quick break from the Glenavy defence saw Broomhill fall behind. As in recent league games this only seemed to fire up the Broomhill side and it wasn`t long before an equaliser came when Jason Loney tapped home from the six yard box. A mix up in the Broomhill defence gifted Glenavy a second but it wasn`t long before the away side were back on level terms after Jason Loney fired home his second after a missed penalty by Andy McHugh (He claims he played a one two off the post for Loney, unlikely!!). The second half had barely kicked off when Glenavy took the lead for a third time, but Broomhill battled on and with 15 mins to go were awarded their second penalty of the day and this time Andy McHugh tucked it away for his fifth goal in three games. Broomhill applied pressure for the remainder of the match but were unable to come up with a winner. Fantastic team performance against a hard side and under difficult conditions.
Final Score Glenavy 3 Broomhill 3

Broomhill boys will be disappointed to read that our 2nd round Junior Cup game will be at home. We play Drumcashlone on the 13th October, so if you want another away tie boys and girls we need to win this match!

What can i say about saturday! Very little as you are about to read, the alcohol has seriously clouded my memory. Broomhill made the long trip to Carrickfergus to play their 1st round Coca Cola Junior Cup game against 1st Carrick OB `A`, the game started brightly with both teams creating early chances, it wasn`t long before the away side took the lead when a deflected Andy McHugh free kick sailed past the Carrick keeper. The home side were awarded a dubious penalty and even though the Broomhill keeper got a good hand to the ball it managed to sneak inside the right hand post. This event seemed to spur on the away side and after some great passing play Stevie Hewitt made it 2-1 going into the break. The tempo of the game continued into the second half and it wasn`t long before Stevie Hewitt scored his second of the day. Gareth Wilson made four for the hill and and when Jonny Forde chipped the advancing Carrick keeper to make it five the home side had lost all belief and organisation within themselves. Andy McHugh managed to slot home a second goal for himself after some good build up play from Ryan Harper. Man of the match was awarded to Davy Simpson but i`d like to congratulate every member the team who played hard and tirelessly all day and all night by the sounds of things.

Yeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhh back to winning ways, Broomhill were on the road again this time to Aughnacloy which is never an easy place to go and get points. In the first half the away side dominated most of the play and chances but as in recent weeks they fell behind early on, to a nicely worked Aughnacloy goal. The second half started out much like the first with Broomhill controlling the play and possesion with no final outcome. As the points seemed to be slipping away from the away side a penalty was awarded when an Aughnacloy player handled the ball inside his own box. Andy McHugh stepped up and fired home from the spot, his second goal in two games. With the belief and confidence flowing through the young side they pushed on for a winner and with only minutes remaining Stevie McHugh delivered the perfect cross for Neil Black to head past the home keeper. A fantastic result ahead of our Junior Cup game against Carrick.
Final Score Aughnacloy 1 Broomhill 2

Another bad day at the office for Broomhill as they travelled to Dungannon to play newly promoted Baileys Tigers. After a sprightly start things looked promising for the `youngsters` when Stevie McHugh recently back from injury fired in what can only be described as a wonder goal (I`ll bet he told everyone about it on saturday night, i know i would`ve), Broomhill continued to press the Baileys defence but were unable to further their lead. The second half started out poorly for the away side when Baileys slammed home a well taken free kick and further anguish when a mix up between Broomhills keeper and defence allowed a Tigers striker to nip in and slot the ball into an empty net. A few substitutions seemed to prove fruitful for Broomhill when Andy McHugh, also back from injury was able to find the back of the net from the edge of the box (we may have to call in the dubious goals committee mr divot) but alas two late goals from a strong Baileys side sealed their fate.
Final Score Baileys Tigers 4 Broomhill 2

Dear oh dear oh dear, I`ve been putting this report off as long as possible, Broomhill travelled to Belfast to play Queens on Saturday, morale was good, expectations were high and early indications seemed to predict Broomhill coming home with all three points, unfortunately this was not the case, despite all their possesion and many chances there was nothing to separate the two teams at halftime. The second half started much like the first with chance after chance going begging and it wasn`t long before Broomhill were punished by the Queens side. As the clock ticked on the away team were forced to throw everything into attack and in the dying seconds of the game a second goal was conceeded from a poorly defended corner. Highlights of the day were `Naked motorway driving`, `McMullans hair`, and `The ice bath`.
Final score Queens 2 Broomhill 0.

No amount of rain, IFA rule changes or pitch closures were able to call off Broomhill`s first league game of the campaign, the match kicked off on a perfect if not slightly narrower surface than last season. Broomhill soon took the lead with some neat interchange passing, and as a result jonny forde crossed the ball and Davy Simpson ghosted into the box to deliver a well taken volley. Broomhill were indeed unlucky to extend their lead when Conor `Goal Machine` Kenny had a terrific shot cleared off the line by a Rectory defender. The second half saw action at both ends of the pitch and as Rangers started to dominate the play Gareth Wilson threaded a through ball to Jonny Forde who ran from just inside the oppositions half to cooly slot past the keeper.
Final score Broomhill 2 Rectory Rangers 0.

Last night saw Broomhill play their fourth friendly of the season against Intermediate A side Laurelvale which was battled out in a highly charged and highly competitive match (bootin session!). Laurelvale took the lead late in the first half with a sweetly taken lob from the right corner of the penalty area by young Lee Wortley. Broomhill soon equalised early in the second half with some excellent link up play between Neil Black and Jonny `I`m the daddy` Forde, the game continued back and forth with both teams attacking strongly but neither able to add to their total. Final score Laurelvale 1 Broomhill 1.

Boomhill took on Armagh Blues in their third friendly of the season at Tandragree recreation centre, the young Broomhill side were soon 2-0 up with goals from Jason Loney and Neil Black, and despite Stevie McKendry ballooning a penalty high (very high) over the crossbar Neil Black doubled his total and made it 3-0 at half-time. Broomhill looked comfortable in the second half with Jonny Forde, Davy Simpson (3 from 3 games) and Jonny Miller all hitting the back of the net. Final score Broomhill 6 Armagh Blues 0.

Hello and welcome to the home of Broomhill football club. The start of the season is fast approaching and everyone is finally tuned in body and mind for the battle ahead. After last seasons disappointing performance Broomhill have managed to secure the names of a few new signings that will hopefully give them the extra edge that was lacking last year.
Please feel free to look around and don`t forget to sign our guestbook.
